DESCRIPTION |
Form: Upright, growing 3'-5' tall and up to 3' wide. Makes an elegant and yet delicate architectural statement in the garden.
Foliage: Opposite, 5"-7" long, linear to lanceolate leaves are smooth, deep, dark green, with a glossy sheen accented by burgundy veins and stems; mostly entire with small intermittent teeth. Its very attractive even without flowers. Flower: Flower buds begin as cylindrical tubes that unfurl from the leaf axils and open to petunia-like, funnel-form, purple flowers. Blooms only for one day and corolla falls off (self-cleaning). Bloomed well during, July, August, and September for 10 weeks of a 12-week summer evaluation period right to frost. Attractive in bud and flower. |
