DESCRIPTION Form: 8"-18" tall mound, spreads to 18" or more. Taller and more open in late summer, early fall.
Foliage: Opposite, oblong or lanceolate, to 3" long. Glossy.
Flower: Solitary, axillary, to 1" long. The calyx tube is bright orange-red, has a small spur at the base, a dark violet ring and ash-white mouth at the tip. No petals. Blooms June to frost. There are cultivars with lavender, pink, cream and rose-violet flowers.
